Our Playground

We aim to make play time during the lunch and afternoon tea breaks a safe, happy and social time for our students.

As part of the PBL reforms of our school expectations, the PBL has developed new expectations for the different areas of the playgrounds. You may have seen our interim signs in the areas, with the aim of having permanent signs placed around the school in Term 4. An example can be seen below:

Some of the strategies we use to engage our students in the playground are:

  • Providing play equipment such as sports balls, skipping ropes and various small toys.
  • Library: Students who attend the Library receive close supervision and develop their social skills as they engage in highly engaging activities.
  • Playground Zones: Our students are explicitly taught about the different zones/ areas in the playground and what they are allowed to do there. The different areas in the playground provide different spaces and activities that aim to meet the interests and needs of our students.
  • Sensory Playground: This area provides a safe place for students to play happily, fully supervised in a shaded area, utilising a range of hands on activities.

Your child should enjoy their time in our wonderful playground areas and be able to return to class happy and ready to learn. If your child reports anything that suggests that they are not happy in the playground please inform their class teacher or the office so that we can rectify any problems.
